South Perth's Steps for Seniors

We braved the wet weather to put some Steps in for Seniors!

ONE CARE provides a range of supportive care services that enable seniors and people with disabilities to enjoy better quality of life as they age at home. ONE CARE Home & Community Support Services is a community based, charitable, not-for-profit health organization providing supportive care to families in Huron and Perth Counties and surrounding area. All of the money you raise as part of Steps for Seniors 2026 will help raise funds to support the purchase of new vehicles for our transportation program in Huron and Perth Counties.

There is still time to donate to this link to contribute to a great cause! Thanks for all your support!

A little wind and rain didn't get our spirits down knowing we are helping those in our community!

Camp Bimini Year End Class Field Trip!

We had so much fun on our adventure to Camp Bimini! So much to see, do and explore! This really was a great trip for Busy Bees that like to see, touch and do!

Thank you to the parent volunteers for coming along! We really appreciate having that support to makes these trips possible. And we also want to thank School Council funds to make this a much more cost effective trip for each of little Busy Bees!

Here are a few pictures from our trip...

It's been a great week, despite the threats of rainy weather, to get outside, enjoy some fresh air and get our bodies moving in different ways with various activities.

Outdoor Phys Ed Today!

We were so excited to be outside for phys ed today in the beautiful weather! We tried out hand at a cooperative team warm up and then had some time with soccer and hula hoop activities outside. We look forward to more outside phys ed coming up and please remember to have outdoor shoes that are runners so we are prepared for these activities.

Skating Trip!

Our skating trip was so much fun! The 1/2 Busy Bees tried so hard out on the ice. Many of our students practiced and persevered and were able to skate around the whole rink! Many students enjoyed being helpers to others as well. We have an amazing class full of kind, hard-working kids!

Thank you to family members who prepared gear and made sure our students were ready for the afternoon. Thank you as well to all volunteers who came to help at the rink. Our trip went so smoothly, thanks to you!

A special thank you to School Council for covering the costs of this trip and making it a fun experience for all of our students. We had a great afternoon!

Terry Fox

Last week we did some learning around Terry Fox and his amazing dedication to making a difference! Thanks to all our students, families and staff for a marvelous week carrying on Terry Fox’s legacy to raise money for cancer research!

We have read books, watched a Terry Fox video and even listened to a song about Terry. From that song, we illustrated a class book. We have created a video sharing our work:

Students had been working hard all week to practice building their own abilities to run for a longer period of time, just like Terry! This past Monday, we ran for the longest time yet and set goals for ourselves to see how many 'laps' we could do to make Terry proud. Here are a few pics from our school wide event!

We also wrote about why we do the Terry Fox run. We have posted these on our Seesaw digital portfolios but here are a few examples of super sentences about the Terry Fox Run.
We know we can make a difference when we try our best.

Thanks Terry for teaching us a very important lesson and we hope we have helped to make a difference too!

Coldest Night of the Year Walk - Day 1 & 2

We have done two days so far of our United Way's Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser! Our class has joined our school team to contribute to this worthy cause. The Coldest Night of the Year is a walk that raises money for folks in our community who need our help. Some of them hungry, more than a few hurting and regrettably, some who are homeless too. This little walk is for a big reason!

Each day this week, we will be bundling up to take our walk outside to do our part. So far we have done 3 of our 5km walking the large laps around the school yard. While it might not be the most fun, we know we are doing something good!

Thank you to the family members that have already submitted a donation! We appreciate your support so very much!

There is still time to donate to this cause! Every little bit helps reach our $250 class goal to support those in our community! Please click here to donate directly online or feel free to send in a cash donation to the school to be added to our totals.
