Christmas Events Reminders

News from the Busy Bees

Dear Grade 1/2 Families,

To celebrate the holidays, we will be doing some special activities in our Busy Bee class, incorporated with our learning activities. Here are just some reminders to help keep us all sorted out. Please ask if you have any questions as I know this is a busy time of year and you have more to think about than just what goes on in our classroom.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY DINNER
Thank you to School Council for arranging this exciting school wide event. Please see the school newsletter for any assistance you can provide. Remember to send along some snacks for first break still, incase their bellies need something to hold them over until our big meal! The School Council is asking for non-perishable food items by donation to be collected on Friday as well.

GINGERBREAD HOUSE DECORATING ITEMS DUE
Students are going to have some fun with their Grade 6/7 learning budding making a mini ‘Gingerbread’ house on Thursday, December 19th. These will be made out of graham crackers, royal icing (that goes hard to act as ‘glue’) and ‘treats’ to decorate. We would really appreciate any items that could be sent in to help contribute to the activity. If these items could be sent in by Friday, December 13th, Mrs. Mohr and myself, will go and supplement the remaining items to make these special little treats with their buddies. Thank you to the families that have already sent in some items. If there are any parents that are available to come and assist, we would love some extra hands. Please let me know!

CHRISTMAS CONCERT ITEMS SENT IN
With our concert next week, we need a few items to make the final touches complete. Could you send in the reindeer antlers for your child to wear so we have it for our school’s dress rehearsal? There are tons of headbands at the local Dollarama, if you don’t have something at home. We need these just for the rehearsal and Tuesday’s performances. These can be reused on our last day for our Holiday Spirit Wear Day that is hosted by the Power of We.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Students will perform twice on Tuesday. The first performance will be at 2pm and this is open to families as well as the evening performance is usually quite packed. Having two performances will allow the audience to be split up so all can have a great view from their seats! The second performance will be at 7pm. For the evening performance, please send children directly to our classroom to get setup no later than at 6:45pm, as we need to get ready for our performance.  For both performances, we ask that students wear brown/beige/black pants and a white shirt, along with their reindeer antlers. Students will need to be picked up by an adult in the Grade 1/2 classroom after the performance. If your child is NOT going to be at the concert in the evening, please let me know as soon as possible, so we can plan accordingly. In case of bad weather, we will bump the concert to Wednesday, December 18 at 2pm & 7pm.

Thursday, December 19, 2019:
GINGERBREAD HOUSE MAKING
Today, we will make our ‘Gingerbread Houses’ with our Grade 6/7 learning buddies. If they are ‘safe’ to travel (meaning they are dry), we will send them home on Thursday or on Friday.

CHRISTMAS DRESS UP DAY & CLASS PARTY
Come decked out in all your red & green holiday wear for our last day of school before the holidays! We will be having a class party where students will watch a holiday movie and have some hot chocolate and popcorn.

If you have any questions, please let us know. Watch the blog for the most up to date information, under the Homework & Reminders tab.

Wishing you all a very happy, healthy, and wonderful holiday break!!
Take care,

Ms. King
