Language:
Math:- Snuggle Up & Read - please remember to read, complete the reading log and send back to school daily for the book to be switched. It is ok to read the same book twice to build confidence and fluency in reading. Remember we are working on retelling the story after we have completed reading with all the important facts to prepare for our upcoming retell presentations. More information about the retells will be coming home later this week.
- Sight Word Ring (SW Ring) - students have brought home an individualized ring of words to practice learning. Students should practice for a max of two minutes as often as possible, keep in their Snuggle Up & Read folder and will hand in once they have 10 on one or more to be 'tested' and exchange for a new word. Students are being assessed this month to see how many more words they have acquired since September.

- Library Tomorrow - students will have a book that they chose from the library and will return on or prior to the next Day 4 (see calendar as well as check here for our next Library day)
- Show & Share Tomorrow: Quinn & Selena
- Writing - students are working on setting some goals for their New Year's resolutions. They are working on creating a personal goal, a reading goal (a level they would like to reach this year - I will help keep the goals achievable), something they want to learn and a food they want to try. They will be creating a super sentence for each of these (with the exception of the food which will be a labelled picture). Discuss at home the goals so they are ready to record on their New Year's posters when we return to school tomorrow.
- Math Corrections - students had brought home some math corrections yesterday to complete and return to school tomorrow. You are welcome to assist them with corrections and provide understanding of the question/answer. Please do not erase their answers, but put the correct answer beside the answer. Discussing how they came to that answer and redirect/discuss strategy as to how they could do it differently the next time really helps solidify the learning.
- Patterning Practice - students are welcome to log in to their IXL math account (log in information is in the front of their planner) and work on patterning practice.
- Level A - Section H (Grade 1 and Grade 2, if not already completed)
- Level B - Section H (Grade 1 and Grade 2, if not already completed)
- Level C - Section S (Grade 2)
- Level D - Section D (bonus)
- Data Management Practice - students are welcome to log in to their IXL math account (log in information is in the front of their planner) and work on data management practice.
- Level B - Section P (Grade 1 and Grade 2, if not already completed)
- Level C - Section P (Grade 2)
**Students may continue to move to the next 'level' and complete the next section. It is up to the families how much or how little you choose to work on this at home with screen time. It is not mandatory to complete any or all sections but just something to provide extra practice of current math skills at home. There are many other sections for math practice that you are welcome to provide as 'free choice' as well. Feel free to work through any sections to reinforce grade level skills or challenge students.
