Our students have been learning how to write procedures or 'how to's' or instructions. We know procedural writing follows certain steps in order to be 'Just Right':
Earlier this week, we were given the steps on how to make popcorn. They were all mixed up and we sorted them in order because we wouldn't get some tasty popcorn if the steps weren't in order.
Once we sorted the steps and put them in order, we added the other important parts to our writing to make it 'Just Right'.
So we decided to follow our own instructions and make some popcorn!!
Oh boy was that tasty!!
We have been reading some fictional story books about procedures as well. Here are some of the favourites we have read so far:
We are going to be following our next procedure to make some pancakes for Shrove Tuesday!! The kiddos don't know that just yet!! Then we will practice writing our own procedures on how to complete a task! Watch for these on our portfolios!
