Today, in Grade 1/2, we are celebrating St. Patrick's Day! We have been doing lots of fun activities and learning about St. Patrick's Day. Here are some facts we have learned:
* A fact I learned was that St. Patrick went to Ireland and taught people about God. (Logan)
* St. Patrick believed that God made people. (Edwin)
* A fact that I learned is that people dye rivers green. (Jessica)
* I learned that St. Patrick drove snakes out of Ireland. (Hannah)
* I learned that on St. Patrick's Day some people have a contest of an Irish dance. (Avaleigh)
* I didn't know that St. Patrick died over 1600 years ago. (Ewan)
* I didn't know that in New York city they have the biggest parade. (Saskia)
* Eire is the Irish name for Ireland. (Ms. King)
We also had a visitor named Willy the Leprechaun. He made a mess in our classroom. Willy the Leprechaun got paper and put it all over the classroom and hid our estimate jar. He flipped the date over. Willy hid the estimate jar in a bush in the arboretum. Willy put 100 clovers in our classroom for us to find. Willy also put footprints on our floor and out the door. He wrote BYE on the outside door and ran away. Willy wrote his name with pencil crayons on the u-shaped table. Willy wrote a message on the chalkboard. Willy put treats on our desk and left us a note that said from Willy. Willy destroyed our calendar. Willy flipped our schedule upside down because he must like to put things upside down. Willy wrote some things on the smartboard for calendar. Willy turned our poem upside down and Ms. King had to put it right side up.
Here are a couple videos Ms. King took of the classroom after Willy the Leprechaun had visited!
