Optimism - Finding the Good!

Throughout March, we were learning all about optimism as our character trait of the month. We have read books, poems and watched videos all about this concept to help us understand what this big idea means.

We have read the book:

We have created our own examples of bad news and turned it into good news this past week to really focus on finding the good when sometimes the bad is really hard to get over...

Got a sliver - might get a sucker from the doctor

Spilled your drink - just get a refill

Tornado blows down your house - get a brand new home the way you want it

Your sibling pushed you & you hurt your knee - you get a bandaid and get cuddles from mom/dad

Scary dream - its just a dream and not real or you can go to your mom & dad's bed

Ripped your pants - can get new pants or someone can sew them as good as new or you could cut them and turn them into shorts

Afraid of an animal - some creatures eat other creatures that might annoy us, some don't live near us

Scared of the dark - you can always sleep with a night light on, its dark when you close your eyes

We also found a new character in a story book that really practices finding the good in situations.

He also was in this story as well about his cool sunglasses:

And some great songs and videos we watched about optimism are:

We are working hard on focusing on making the choice to find the good. It is easy to pick out the bad and dwell on it, but we are training our brains to find the silver lining more. Help us practice and we can show you are new skills!
