Good morning,

Reminders:
- Planner Signed - please review the contents of the planner and initial each day after reading.
- Mailbag - please review any contents sent home today in your child's mailbag and return any items needing attention as soon as you are able. Many things came home yesterday to go through. Please see below for further direction:
- Gift - students received a gift from Ms. King (book, pencil and treat)
- Student Art - students have brought home their art, math Christmas patterns and a special Christmas art that some have chosen to give as a gift.
- Classmate Treat Bags - students have received a few treats from friends to open at home. Thanks very much for the treats!
- Colouring Book - Christopher the Elf left students a Christmas colouring book for them to keep at home.
- All other items are included below as homework items over the break
Language:
- Snuggle Up & Read (SUR) - As many days as possible, please take some time to snuggle up to have your child read to you a book they have brought home from the classroom. After reading, record the book on the reading log. Send back and forth to school daily. We will switch books, and also we have some supports in the classroom to work with your child throughout the week with this folder. Folders will be checked today.
- Sight Word (SW) Rings - Continue to work on the sight words on the personalized ring your child has in their Snuggle Up & Read folder. These word rings are for a quick practice as frequently as possible to learn these words. Please check off on the back a checkmark if they knew it instantly or an x if they need more practice. Once 10 checkmarks are on the back of all the words, please write a note in the planner for the teacher to check these words and send new ones home. These are to be kept in their Snuggle Up & Read folder to come back and forth to school so our classroom volunteers can also work with students on these words.
- Letter Sound (LS) Rings - Continue to work on the letter sounds. As you flip through each card, please check off on the back a checkmark if they knew it instantly or an x (or leave blank) if they need more practice. Once 10 checkmarks are on the back of all the cards, please write a note in the planner for the teacher to check these cards and send new ones home. These are to be kept in their Snuggle Up & Read folder to come back and forth to school so our classroom volunteers can also work with students on these letter sounds.
- Library Day Monday (when we return) - please send in your library book back (if you haven't already sent back in) and we will exchange for another book to enjoy for the next week. Students are only allowed one book at a time out from the library.
- Shared Reading Home Activity - Your child has brought home their Shared Reading Activity duotang with the home activity. Students have been working with a poem this week that they are learning to recognize letters and words. Please complete the Home Activity over the break and return the duotang on Monday, January 9th.
- December Celebrations Book - Students have brought home their own special book as we were learning about special December Celebrations from around the world. They have a page to complete at home for their own traditions. This book is to share at home and keep at home.
Math:
- IXL - complete any of the recommended activities
- Count On Christmas Colouring Page - some students brought home their colouring page to finish practicing their count on strategy. With the snow day, please complete this and return to school.
- Writing Numbers Practice - Please continue to take some time to practice writing these numbers at your convenience with the blue practice booklet that came home. A few minutes here and there is all that is needed to solidify good number concepts.
Goodbye to Christopher the Elf! He and Snowflake have headed back to the North Pole!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! We wish you the very best this holiday break has to offer! We will see you back to school on Monday, January 9, 2023! Happy birthday to Eden and Reiner over the holiday break!
