Students seem to naturally be able to sort objects into different groups. An attribute is the characteristic in which we sort. Students were able to take a bucket of learning materials and sort into the sub-categories of the attribute with ease. We use these attributes as ways to organize information and data. Soon we will be learning about sorting based on different attributes using Carroll Diagrams and Venn Diagrams. We use these same attributes to help us with patterning to make more complex patterns.
We are learning so much and excited about the math challenges that are presented. These students really love math and showing what they can do!
