Today, we did our final Estimate Jar for the school year!!
Each student wrote down their estimate on their white board of how many treats were in the jar. This time they were NOT the same size or item so it made it a little more tricky as our final estimate jar challenge of the school year!
We decided today we would count by 3's because we know counting by ones takes us a long time, and we have never counted by 3’s!
Then for the big moment...we all took a turn going around the class and sharing our estimate. We compared numbers and how far away our estimate was from the actual total we had of the candies. We created our multiplication and repeated addition sentences to show what we know about adding groups of the same number.
Brody, Abigail and Zoe were our winners!! They were both just 10 away from the 90 treats we had in total! Our winners knew our tradition is to share the treats with everyone in the class. So we divided them up to share practicing our division skills we have been exploring in math. Each of the class friends got 4 with our equal sharing with a remainder. The 10 remainder were split with equally but we still had one extra so Mrs. Herbert got the last one.
Some sweet math on this last day of Grade 1/2 in the Busy Bee classroom!
